A Fat-Burning Exercise -- Kettlebell Workout Swing

Kettlebell workout swing should be done with a low weight kettlebell, especially when first starting out. A 5-10 pound kettlebell is sufficient. As a fat-burning exercise, the emphasis is on smooth movements with a high level of repetitions.

The basic key that you need to incorporate in kettlebell swings is to use powerful hip snaps when propelling the kettlebell forward. Take note that you should not do the swings with your shoulders or back. Kettlebell workout swings will tone up many muscles, including the posterior, biceps, grip and forearms. Always have a proper warm-up before beginning, otherwise you may hurt yourself.

Learn Kettlebell Workout Swings

1. Beginning with your hips shoulder-width apart, bend your knees slightly. Keep your head forward and back straight.

2. Grabbing your kettlebell by the handle with both hands, raise it from between your legs to chest height, on an inhale. Swing the kettlebell back down between the legs on the exhale.

3. Move the kettlebell back to chest height, using your hip thrusts. Keep your shoulders pulled down close to your body in order to keep your back from rounding.

Over time, you can build up to 75-100 repetitions. Do this 2-3 times a week for an amazing workout. By doing swings regularly, you will burn fat and drop inches. You’ll also strengthen your posterior, core, and upper body muscles.
